I'm a woman who loves long runs by the beach, killer cycling classes, and sweating until my clothes are sheer. I'm always looking for the next best fitness class, instructor, DVD...you name it. My true love? Besides my husband of course, I love homemade or bakery bought frosting, cake, cookies and devouring every last lick!

"What people don’t realize is that they’re rarer by far than superstar athletes,” Mr. Razek said of women who fit precise but unwritten physical parameters for becoming a Victoria’s Secret angel. “The numbers of people who can do this are probably under 100 in the world,” Mr. Razek said. “And in the show it’s only 30 girls.” (Actually, there are 33 this year.)"

TRUE STORY: Fashiontribes Amazing Weight Loss Story

You love fashion? Let me introduce you to Fashiontribes. The creator and writer of this fabulous fashion blog, Lesley Scott is a fashionista and style guru, who reports and embraces a life of fabulous fashion.

Like many women, she has also struggled with her weight (me too). She bravely agreed to share her amazing story with us today!

What inspired you to lose weight?

First, this super-cute pair of dark wash jeans came my way and I couldn’t squeeze my butt into them, and then I saw a photo of Jennifer Hudson on one of the celeb blogs and she was looking so good…thanks to Weight Watchers.  So, I signed up for WW online that evening.

What weight loss strategies that work well?

    • Write down EVERYTHING you eat -  it gets rid of “unconscious” munching
    • Use WW “points” system - every food is assigned a certain point value for a particular portion size
    • Avoid processed foods
    • Exercise - while losing weight, I worked out every day without fail, alternating cardio/sculpt days with cardio-only days
    • Blog or Journal - I blogged regularly. It’s amazing what surfaces when you write about your challenges and frustrations.  By dealing with them consciously, they’re less likely to undermine your attempts to lose weight

How long did it take to reach your goal weight?

It took me just over 4 months. I had a “vision” of what I wanted to achieve, and that helped keep my eye on the prize.

How do you maintain your new look?

For me, it’s really got to be a lifelong commitment.  If I go back to eating the way I used to, I’ll gain.  If I don’t workout at least 5-6 times a week, my body won’t look the way it does now. So yes, it takes work and dedication.

Does working in fashion make it easier or more difficult?

Working in fashion does always keep you conscious of how you look, which can be bad because we’re all pretty vain (it’s true!) but at the same time, it helps keep you from ever becoming 100 or even 150 pounds overweight.  At Weight Watchers, there are actually a heartbreakingly large number of people who have this much to lose, and they mostly talk about how they just weren’t really aware of just how heavy they were getting.

Lesley’s recommended reading - “The End of Overeating” by David Kessler and “Ultrametabolism” by Mark Hyman, MD
